Econoff delivered reftel demarche to Ministry of Transport Director
of Shipping and Maritime Affairs Peter Thuo on May 7. Thuo
acknowledged the USG need to contemplate additional security
measures and pledged to respond to our questions as soon as
practicable. The May 25-29 visit to Kenya of a U.S. Coast Guard
International Ship and Port Facility Security assessment team may
offer additional opportunities to explore reftel questions with
local authorities.
