SUBJECT: EXBS: EMBASSY CONCURRENCE WITH PROGRAM PLAN FOR OMAN

(SBU) EMBASSY has reviewed the EXBS proposed program plan for Oman
and concurs that the plan will benefit Oman's attempts to
strengthen its WMD nonproliferation efforts. The proposed plan
provides for assessments, workshops, conferences and training
courses that will increase Oman's capability to further implement
strong export control and border security measures as well as
enhance their efforts to comply with the provisions in UNSCR 1540.
Further, EMBASSY notes that many of the training courses listed are
in direct response to specific requests made by Oman. The plan has
been shared and discussed with Omani officials who enthusiastically
endorsed the plan and expressed their appreciation for our
assistance.
