1. (SBU) P/E Chief called on Counselor Ahmed Said al Kathiry,
Deputy Chief of the American Affairs Department of the Omani MFA on
September 9. He used the call to follow up for a second time on a
previous notification for the U.S. candidacy of Ms. Lucretia F.
Myers for a position on the United Nations International Civil
Service Commission.
2. (C) Al Kathiry said that other candidate countries had also
contacted his ministry in support of their candidates and that he
now doubted if there would be any formal announcement of support
for any of the candidates. "That will come in the vote itself," he
said.
