(SBU) On December 20 EconOff met with Ahmed Al Kathiry, Deputy
Chief of American Affairs in the MFA, to deliver the Outreach for
Assistance to WFP in Pakistan demarche. Although Al Kathiry
expressed concern for the 2.7 million Pakistanis who will be
negatively impacted by a reduction in WFP programming, he did not
indicate that Oman would commit to providing additional WFP
assistance. Post will continue to raise the issue of WFP assistance
in meetings with Omani interlocutors.
