Embassy Montevideo has received a diplomatic note from the GOU indicating Uruguay's intention to present its candidacy as a Non-Permanent Member of the United Nations Security Council for the period 2016-2017, with elections to be held during the 70th Session of the United Nations General Assembly in 2015. ¶2. An unofficial translation of the diplomatic note from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs follows: -- Begin Unofficial Translation -- The Ministry of Foreign Affairs - Secretariat of Political Affairs - Department of Multilateral Affairs - presents its compliments to the Embassy of the United States of America and has the honor to inform the Embassy that the Uruguayan Government has proposed the candidacy of Uruguay as a Non-Permanent Member of the United Nations Security Council for the period 2016-2017 at the elections to be held during the 70th Session of the United Nations General Assembly in ¶2015.
