He will be present for the General Debate. -- President Vazquez's itinerary follows: 9/11 Depart Santiago, Chile via LAN 500, arriving Miami 05:40 9/12 Depart Miami (08:40) enroute Washington, DC via LAN ¶8184. Arrive DC 11:05 9/12. President Vazquez will remain in Washington until 9/18 9/18 Depart Washington (08:20) enroute NYC via UNITED 7135. Arrive NYC 09:35 9/18. President Vazquez will remain in NYC until 9/23 9/23 Depart NYC (20:00) via LAN 533 to Santiago, Chile. -- President Vazquez's spouse, Sra. Maria Auxiliadora Delgado de Vazquez, will accompany. -- Spanish/English interpretation would be required in a bilateral or multilateral meeting. ¶B. -- President Vazquez is Uruguay's Head of Government. ¶C. -- Uruguay's current Foreign Minister, Dr. Gonzalo Fernandez, is scheduled to change portfolio August 31. Indications are that the current Deputy Foreign Minister, Dr. Pedro Vaz, will assume the ministry and will travel with President Vazquez to NYC. -- If Dr. Vaz is named foreign minister, he would not need interpretation. There is no word yet on his itinerary. ¶D. -- There are currently no plans for other Uruguayan VIPs to attend UNGA. ¶E. -- The foreign ministry official responsible for IO affairs is not/not scheduled to travel to NYC for UNGA.
