1. MFA Deputy Director for Political Affairs Ambassador
Julio Moreira and MFA Director for Multilateral Affairs
Minister Nury Bauzan de Senes told charge April 17 that
Uruguay will support the U.S. candidacy for the UN Human
Rights Council. Bauzan de Senes noted that Uruguay finds
itself in a similar situation to the U.S., in that its
candidacy for the Council has also been approved by its
regional group. She asked that the U.S. delegation in New
York advise Uruguay's UN mission about whether Uruguay can
expect U.S. support for the Uruguayan candidacy.
