(SBU) Poloff conveyed points January 8 on USG concerns over a
possible Iranian presidency of the Executive Board of the
United Nations Development Program (UNDP) to Julian Juarez
Cadenas, the Deputy Director General for UN-Related Security
and Legal Issues at the Foreign Secretariat (SRE). Juarez
said that he was unaware of Iran's candidacy or a possible
decision as early as January 9 and would confer with his
colleagues immediately about the matter.
