Deputy Political Counselor conveyed to Sara Valdes Bolano,
the Foreign Ministry's General Director for the Office of
Africa and the Middle East, the USG's intention to send a
high-level delegation to the upcoming conference in Shar
al-Sheikh. Valdes was very appreciative of this information.
She noted that Mexico intended to participate in this
conference. While it had not yet decided who would head its
delegation, she remarked that the U.S. decision to head its
delegation at the highest levels could well impact Mexico's
decision on this matter.
