Deputy Political Counselor spoke to the Foreign Ministry's
Director of the Office for the Elimination of Discrimination
Elia del Carmen Sosa Nishizaki about the USG's decision to
participate in the Intergovernmental Working Group of the
Durban Review Conference and our desire to address a number
of concerns we have with the current text. Sosa welcomed the
U.S. desire to participate in the conference and expressed
her hope that disagreements over the current text could be
worked out to the satisfaction of all participants between
now and the conference in April.
