1. Poloff conferred with Blanca Mendez Oblea, Deputy Director
of Candidacies at the Foreign Secretariat (SRE),June 12 to
convey USG preference for Ms. Lucretia F. Myers for election
to the UN International Civil Service Commission (reftel).
Post also sent a diplomatic note with the Curriculum Vitae of
Ms. Myers to the Foreign Relations Secretariat (SRE). Suarez
said the Govermnent of Mexico (GOM) has not made a decision
but said that it places much importance on the experience of
the candidates.
2. Suarez told Poloff that Licenciado Ernesto Herrera, Deputy
Director of Personnel at SRE, is a candidate from Mexico for
the UN ICSC election in the Latin America and Caribbean
group. Suarez commented that he has experience in the Fifth
Committee of the UN.
