Poloff conveyed points April 21 about the decision by the USG
not to attend the Durban Review Conference (reftel) to Elia
Sosa, Director for the Office on the Elimination of Racism at
the Foreign Secretariat (SRE). Sosa expressed regret that
the USG would not be able to attend and hoped that a
compromise could be found in the future. She also expressed
appreciation for our recognition of the importance the
Government of Mexico (GOM) attaches to the issue.
