Lesotho awarded $40 000 in Special Self Help (SSH) funds to six
community groups in the year October 1, 2008 to September 30,
2009 benefitting 607 males and 905 females.
Beneficiary details

1. Molibetsane Primary School used funds to purchase
building materials to construct three classrooms in the Leribe
district. There were 112 male and 138 female beneficiaries for
this $9,000 grant.
2. Soai Primary School, located in a remote and isolated
rural area of Lesotho serving 400 students previously used
stones as seats in their classrooms. Thanks to a grant worth
$6,500 they now have 100 student desks and seven chairs for
teachers. This grant benefited 168 males and 239 females.
3. Mofumahali oa Maloti R.C Mission built toilet facilities
for three schools in the remote area of Ketane in the Mohale's
Hoek District. This $7,000 grant improved sanitation for 95
males and 112 females.
4. Sefaha Primary School previously conducted classes in a
tent that was later demolished by inclement weather. This
$6,500 grant was used to purchase building materials for
construction of two classrooms. 118 males and 186 females
benefitted.
5. Tsoloane Primary School previously conducted classes in
a dilapidated old house in the rural and remote area of the
Qacha's Nek district. Thanks to a grant for $6,500 110 males
and 192 females now have two new classrooms.
6. Manyeloi a Manyane Day Care Center was awarded a grant
for $4,500. This was used to pay for removal costs of an old
pump, testing of water quality installation of a new submersible
pump and accessories, installation of a steel stand and supply
of a water tank so that four males and 38 females can have clean
water.
