SUMMARY: This cable is a status report for the Ambassador's Special Self-Help Program (SSH) in Mozambique for FY08. The Embassy chose seven projects for funding according to SSH selection criteria and Mission objectives. Examples of projects include construction of a computer lab/library, rehabilitation of a basketball pavillion, raising poultry, cultivating vegetables and an electric mill. The Embassy estimates that a total of 11,650 people benefitted from these projects as of May ¶2009. END SUMMARY. -------------- SSH Projects 2008 -------------- ¶2. Detailed project information is below: Grantee name: Cambine Secondary School (Escola Secundaria de Cambine) Agreement number: SSH-08-656-001 Project: Construction of a library, computer room and warehouse Location: Cambine, Inhambane Province Amount obligated: USD 15,000 Disbursed amount: USD 0 Balance: USD 15,000 Status of project: Quotations have been submitted and a vendor selected. Vendor is in the process of supplying the materials for construction of the project. Grantee name: Northwest Maputo Secondary School (Escola Secundaria Noroeste 1) Agreement number: SSH-08-656-002 Project: Rehabilitation of basketball pavilion Location: Maputo City, Maputo Province Amount obligated: USD 8,000 Disbursed amount: USD 8,000 Balance: USD 0 Status of project: Quotations have been submitted and a vendor selected. Vendor has received payment for materials and the project is ongoing with a mid-June completion date anticipated.
