¶1. (U) Post delivered reftel demarche to the Department of
Foreign Affairs Office of United Nations and Other
International Organizations (UNIO) Acting Director Joy
Ignacio. Post emphasized the potential dangers of the
"defamation" concept and solicited support to vote against
the resolution.
¶2. (SBU) Acting Director Ignacio assured poloff that the
Philippine government takes the U.S. positions very
seriously, and promised to raise our priorities with her
superiors. Post will continue to follow up and will advise
when further response is forthcoming.
