¶1. Post delivered reftel points to Director Joy Tirol of the
Office of the United Nations and Other International
Organizations (UNIO) of the Department of Foreign Affairs
(DFA),soliciting the Philippines' cooperation and support
for the key U.S. human rights priorities for the UNGA's 2009
Third Committee session. Post also underscored the U.S.
government's desire to improve UN voting coincidence with our
bilateral partners. Director Tirol was unable to respond
immediately but said that she would study reftel points and
forward them to the senior levels in DFA to ensure the U.S.
human rights agenda is given careful consideration. Post
will continue to engage with DFA to press for their
cooperation and support.
