(C) A/DCM spoke with MFA Director of Bilateral Relations
Dhafer Al Umran on June 16 to follow up on the Foreign
Minister's commitment to SRAP Holbrooke (reftel) of GOB
assistance to Pakistan IDPs. Al Umran confirmed that the
Cabinet had formally agreed to provide assistance to the GOP
to address the IDP crisis, but had deferred on setting an
amount pending review of a list of specific Pakistani
requests. Dhafer said he received that list from his embassy
in Islamabad earlier that morning and that the MFA would pass
it directly to the Cabinet for a determination on the amount
of GOB assistance.
