(C) This cable serves to notify the Department, as per Ref A,
that no Iranians will attend U.S. Embassy Madrid's 4th of
July celebration, which will be held on July 2. Post
originally had invited Iranian Ambassador to Spain, Seyed
Davoud Mohensi Salehi, to attend the event, but Ambassador
Mohseni departed his post during the week of June 22, after
completing a three-year tour. Post's invitation was
non-transferrable. However, as per Ref B instructions,
Embassy Madrid's Protocol Office telephoned the Iranian
Embassy on June 25 to officially inform it that the
invitation was rescinded.
