(SBU) On June 5, poloff delivered reftel demarche regarding
the U.S.-nominated candidate for the United Nations
International Civil Service Commission (ICSC) election, to
take place during the 64th UN General Assembly in October or
November 2009, to Spanish MFA Subdirector General for the UN
Marcelino Cabanas. Mr. Cabanas responded that he is
personally familiar with Ms. Myers' qualifications, but that
Spain has not yet made a decision as to its vote.
