1. (SBU) In response to reftel request, Robin Shackell at the
Foreign and Commonwealth Office (FCO) told ESTHOff on July 29
he sees "no problem" with providing HMG assurances regarding
the transfer of uranium to a UK Atomic Weapons Establishment
(AWE) facility in support of a nuclear forensics exercise.
He added this is a world-wide exercise and this type of
request is routine. Shackell noted he is coordinating with
the UK Atomic Weapons Establishment and the Department of
Energy and Climate Change (DECC) to complete this request and
expects to have the information necessary to report back to
ESTHOff the week of August 3-7.
