1. (SBU) Emboff delivered reftel demarche on the Goldstone
Report to Smiljana Knez, Minister Plenipotentiary in the
MFA's International Organization and Human Security Division.
Knez stated that Slovenia was looking for the EU to take a
common position following today's meeting in Geneva. She
noted that Slovenia was "not enthusiastic" about the special
session, with concerns about how the debate could affect the
broader peace process. Knez would not speculate on what
position Slovenia would take should the EU fail to find a
common position, saying only that Slovenia agreed with us
that the Human Rights Council is the right forum for such
discussions.
