(C) CDA met with Bank of Slovenia Governor Marko Kranjec, who
is IMF Governor for Slovenia, on April 24, to urge Slovenia
to vote in favor of Kosovo's IMF membership, per reftel A.
Kranjec explained that any recognition of Kosovo is a
political decision and therefore the Bank would follow the
government's guidance. (Note, per ref B, the government of
Slovenia supports Kosovo's membership in the IFIs.) Kranjec
noted that he had formally written to the Government
requesting its decision on the issue and would vote according
to the response he receives. He promised to inform Post when
he receives a formal answer.
