Given the short time-frame in Ref A, we contacted the
Portuguese MFA Security and Defense Division to discuss Ref A
and B points. We were told that Portugal's NATO delegation
in Brussels had the lead on counter-piracy operational
planning, but that Portugal supported robust operations in
light of Portugal's current participation in the Standing
NATO Maritime Group off the coast of Somalia. He also noted
that Portugal had no position yet on an International Piracy
Court, but that this issue was managed by the Portuguese
Mission in New York.
