Portugal's parliament passed two resolutions February 13 to
adopt the protocols of accession of Croatia and Albania to
the North Atlantic Treaty. The parliament approved the
resolutions on a voice vote and then passed them to the
President of the Republic for signature. Following President
Cavaco Silva's signature, the legislation will enter into
force upon publication in the national gazette. Comment:
There are no political equities at play here and we expect
entry into force soon. We will notify EUR/RPM and L/T as
soon as it happens so that the Portuguese Embassy can arrange
to deposit the articles.
