On February 18, Pol-Econ officer delivered reftel points
urging Portugal and its EU partners to continue to withhold
assistance funds from Mauritania until the government
restores democracy and constitutional order. Portuguese MFA
Middle East Officer Ivo Inacio received the message but did
not offer a substantive response.
