(SBU) Poloff delivered reftel demarche and diplomatic note on
October 12 to Ana Lucia Nieto, First Secretary in UN and
Multilateral Affairs at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. On
October 20, Ms. Nieto informed poloff unofficially that Peru
would support the United States candidacy for re-election to
the International Maritime Organization Council in Category
"A." Post will report any further response via septel.
