1. (C) Post delivered reftel demarche to GOM Ministry of
Foreign Affairs Director of Political Affairs Paul
Chiunguzeni. Chiunguzeni stated to Emboff that the GOM had
not engaged with Iran on the matters raised, but that they
were following events at the IAEA. He offered no other
substantive response.
2. (C) COMMENT: Malawi became an IAEA member state in 2006.
Its diplomatic interaction with Iran is limited. There is no
Iranian representation in Malawi, or vice versa. Post will
continue to keep the GOM apprised of developments and press
for their support.
