(SBU) On January 8, emboff delivered reftel demarche to
Director of Political Affairs Paul Chiunguzeni at the
Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Chiunguzeni said he had already
engaged Malawi's UN mission about the UNDP vote and the GOM
was concerned about what an Iran presidency might mean.
However, Chiunguzeni said Malawi was participating in an
African Group meeting about the vote that day and a decision
was still pending regarding the vote. Chiunguzeni said he
would inform emboff of any substantive decisions that came
out of the meeting.
