1. (S/NF) On January 13, Econoff delivered reftel demarche
regarding the USG sanctions against A.Q. Khan and associates
which were announced on January 12 to Khaled Al-Maqamis,
Director of the Department of Follow-up and Coordination at
the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Maqamis underscored
Kuwait's close cooperation with the USG on counterterrorism
issues but had no other substantive response.
