1. (U) This is an action request. See paragraph 3.
2. (U) On February 3, 2009 Embassy Kuwait received an
official inquiry from Kuwait's Ministry of Foreign Affairs
Legal Department regarding the status of it's draft Mutual
Legal Assistance Treaty agreement between the US and Kuwait.
The MLAT was prepared by the GOK in August 2008, subsequent
to meetings held in Kuwait with Department of Justice (DOJ)
Attache Jeffrey Cole (Cairo) and Econoff.
3. (U) Action Request: Please provide post with
information on the status of the MLAT we can pass to the
Ministry of Foreign Affairs in response to its inquiry.
