(C) Kuwaiti Psychiatrist and Al-Salam Rehabilitation Center board member Dr. Abdullah Al-Ghuloum confirmed to poloff November 10 that former GTMO detainee Khalid Al-Mutayri was recently transferred from a military hospital to the Salam rehabilitation center within the Central Prison and is a resident there now. Gholoum said he had not met with Al-Mutayri since his return from GTMO, but in his meetings with other Salam Center board members (notably Imam Khalid Al-Otaibi who has met with him),he learned that Mutayri is being given time to adjust and acclimatize to his new setting. The Salam Center's strategy, he elaborated, is to give Al-Mutayri time to get used to his new surroundings before implementing any type of rehabilitation; just as he had to adjust to captivity in GTMO, he now needs to adjust to the rehab center and the prospect of even greater freedom down the road. Gholoum said that he stands by the prognosis he developed when he interviewed Al-Mutayri during his September visit to GMTO: "he will not be a problem;" with time, he will assimilate into Kuwaiti society. This assimilation, he continued, is being facilitated by family visitations. Several such meetings have already occurred. In response to queries on Al-Mutayri's state of mind, Al-Ghuloum said that he seems content to be at the center and shows no eagerness to leave. ¶2.
