INVESTMENTS IN IRAN'S OIL AND GAS SECTOR

Econcouns conveyed U.S. views (reftel) on announced Malaysian
corporate investments in Iran's oil and gas sector to
Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) Middle East and North
Africa Division Principle Assistant Secretary Shahabudeen
Adam Shah on December 9. Shah did not respond to the points
conveyed, but requested U.S. views be passed to the him in
dipnote form. Shah also said that he would inform MFA Under
Secratary for Non-Proliferation Balachandran of the meeting.
Econcouns also shared the points with Ministry of
International Trade and Investment Director Wong Sing Foo
December 9. We will report back any subsequent response from
the MFA or MITI. Post is working to schedule meetings with
SKS Ventures, Amona, and Petronas to gather information on
their announced investments in Iran's oil and gas sector.
