SUBJECT: LEAHY HUMAN RIGHTS VETTING REQUEST FOR
ANTI-TRAFFICKING IN PERSONS TRAINING IN MALAYSIA
1. (U) Post requests the Department's assistance in vetting,
pursuant to the Leahy Amendment and Foreign Assistance Act,
the following members of the Royal Malaysian Police and Royal
Malaysian Customs, who have been selected to participate in
Anti-Trafficking in Persons Training on December 8-10 and/or
December 14-16, 2010. The training is being conducted by the
Malaysian Attorney General's Chambers in Putrajaya, Malaysia
with the assistance of four members from the U.S. Department
of Justice's Office of Overseas Prosecutorial Development,
Assistance, and Training. The DOJ participants are
participating at USG expense. Post has already conducted its
own vetting and possesses no credible information to indicate
that the individuals listed in Paragraph 2 have been involved
in gross violations of human rights.
2. (U) Post requests that the Department of State review its
files to determine whether the Department of State possesses
credible information of gross violations of human rights by
the following 14 individuals:
