MONTHLY REPORTING CABLE
1. SUMMARY: (U) This cable covers the period 9-30 Sep 09. Pamela
Zaresk departed Kuala Lumpur September 3 and her replacement,
Michael McNamara reported on board September 23 and is in the
process of completing check-in formalities.
SITE ASSESSMENTS/MEETINGS
2. (U) Accomplishments for the week of 28 Sep:
- Advisor held a meeting with Embassy's Regional Counter Terrorism
Advisor (Greg Chapman) to review Regional EXBS Program Plans for FY
10 and potential areas of synergy.
- Advisor held three telephone conferences with William Comley, EXBS
Program Advisor for Thailand, Vietnam and Cambodia on areas of joint
concern.
- Advisor contacted the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Malaysia to
follow up on a 3 September letter of invitation for training from
the University of Georgia's Export Control Academy. The MFA
indicated interest but has yet to submit required information. This
matter will be followed up during the week of 5 October. It is
critical that MFA act quickly as there are a number of visa and
travel booking requirements to accomplish.
