In reftel, post reported that three suspects had been arrested for an attempted armed robbery of a bank in Chuuk, Federated States of Micronesia (FSM). Since the vault was inaccessible, the suspects fled without any money, but not before they shot up the lobby and clubbed an employee with the butt of a rifle. Chuuk Police arrested the suspects the same day. Post speculated that close family ties between the suspects and the presiding judge might lead to lenient treatment. ¶2. Post has now learned that all three suspects face four counts under Chuuk state law: trespassing, robbery, assault with a dangerous weapon, and malicious mischief. The suspects also face one count under FSM federal law for the illegal possession of a weapon and ammunition. As anticipated, the judge released all three subjects on bail totaling $5,000. No trial date has been set and the suspects, allegedly members of the "Chuu Thug" criminal gang, are free to walk about the community without restriction. ¶3.
