Ngoy Katumwe, head of the MFA's International Organizations
Directorate. Ngoy said the GDRC position remained clear:
Iran needed to comply with the various UNSC and IAEA
resolutions regarding its nuclear program. Ngoy opined that
in today's global environment, the bellicose diplomatic style
Iran employs is counter-productive. Ngoy maintained that the
GDRC had purposefully dragged its feet on granting agreement
for the new Iranian ambassador in Kinshasa to send a message
that DRC-Iranian relations were not optimal. Furthermore,
Ngoy said that Foreign Minister Alexis Thambwe had turned
down a request from the Iranian Foreign Minister to meet on
the margins of UNGA.
