Post has received the following Diplomatic Note from the Government of Jamaica's (GOJ) Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade (MFAFT) dated July 27, 2009: (BEGIN TEXT OF MFAFT DIPNOTE 50/141/3) "Ref. No. 50/141/3 The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade of Jamaica presents its compliments to the Embassy of the United States of American and has the honour to advise that the Government of Jamaica has presented candidatures to the following subsidiary bodies of the United Nations Educational, Scientific, and Cultural Organization (UNESCO), for which elections will be held during the 35th Session of the UNESCO General Conference, from 6-23 October 2009: Intergovernmental Committee on Physical Education and Sports (CIGEPS): re-election, for the period 2009-2013 (Ms. Vilma Charlton); Council of the International Bureau of Education (IBE),for the period 2009-2013 (Dr. Rebecca Tortello); and International Co-ordinating Council of the Programme Man and the Biosphere, for the period 2009-2013 (Ms. Joy Douglas). The Ministry has the further honour to enclose curricula vitae and a profile in respect of the experts who will represent Jamaica on the aforementioned bodies. Jamaica continues to be committed to the goals and objectives of UNESCO and is eager to continue its contribution to the Organization's efforts to promote scientific, educational and cultural development for the benefit of all. In light of the above, the Government of Jamaica would highly appreciate the valuable support of the Government of the United States of America for the Jamaican candidatures. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade of Jamaica avails itself of this opportunity to renew to the Embassy of the United States of America the assurances of its highest consideration."
