1. (SBU) Per reftel, EmbOff delivered demarche to determine whether
Jamaica will present a candidate or support another country's
candidate for Director General (DG) of the Inter-American Institute
for Cooperation on Agriculture (IICA) at its biennial meeting in
October in Montego Bay, Jamaica. Demarche was delivered to Ms.
Norma Taylor Roberts, Director of the International Organizations
Department of the Government of Jamaica (GOJ)'s Ministry of Foreign
Affairs and Foreign Trade (MFAFT) on the morning of June 8.
2. (SBU) Ms. Taylor Roberts advised that Jamaica would not be
presenting a candidate, but would be supporting the candidate
endorsed by the Caribbean Community (CARICOM),although she did not
know who that might be. Post will report any further response from
the GOJ.
