the Permanent Secretary in the Government of Jamaica (GoJ)'s
Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade (MFAFT),Ambassador
Gail Mathurin, on February 11.
2.(SBU) As conveyed reftel (D),previous MFAFT Permanent Secretary
Ambassador Douglas Saunders indicated in January, 2008 that the GoJ
"would not be able to recognize Kosovo's independence." On February
13, the MFAFT's Under Secretary for Multilateral Affairs, Ambassador
Vilma McNish, reconfirmed to EmbOff that the GoJ would maintain this
position.
