(SBU) On July 7, Emboff delivered the reftel demarche to
Madan Bhattarai, Joint Secretary of the Foreign Ministry's UN
and International Organizations Division, regarding the
additional sanctions on North Korea, including new financial
measures, under UN Security Council Resolution 1874. Emboff
also provided a copy of the Treasury Advisory on North Korea.
Bhattarai was interested to learn about measures that North
Korea might take to evade sanctions and other issues,
including the use of counterfeit currency. The Joint
Secretary agreed to convey the information to the relevant
authorities.
