Classified By: Pol/C Joseph L. Novak, reasons 1.4(b+d).
1. (C) On November 16, Pol/C reviewed the three
country-specific resolutions on Iran, Burma, and the DPRK
with Astari Daenuwy, international affairs adviser in the
President's Office. Pol/C stressed the importance of the
resolutions themselves and also explained the firm position
of the U.S. against no-action motions as a matter of
principal. Daenuwy took the U.S. points on board.
2. (C) Virtually all senior GOI foreign policy officials
have been in Singapore for the Asia Pacific Economic
Cooperation Leaders' Meeting. Daenuwy was thus the highest
possible level for this demarche. Mission will continue to
pursue a meeting for Charge to make these points at a more
senior level.
