On July 6, poloff reviewed the points with Bunyan Saptomo, Director for North American Affairs at the Department of Foreign Affairs (DEPLU). ¶3. (C) Miission underscored the importance of having a plurality of viewpoints at the United Nations in order to enhance debate. Mission asked for GOI support in voting with the U.S. to overturn the decision of the NGO Committee against DCP accreditation and then voting in favor of a resolution to grant special consultative status to DCP. Additionally, Mission asked te GOI for its support in vvoting with the U.S. to overturn the recommendation of the NGO Committee to close the application of DCWMF for accreditation and then voting in favor of a draft resolution to send DCWMF's application back to the Committee for deliberation. ¶4. (C) Our GOI interlocutor had no immediate comment about whether the GOI would vote with the U.S., but noted the importance of promoting diverse views.
