(SBU) AgCouns met with Asif Shuja, Director General of the
Environment Protection Agency (EPA),to determine the Government of
Pakistan's (GOP) position on biotechnology issues under the
Cartagena Protocol (reftel) and to see who would represent the GOP
at the upcoming meeting in Mexico City. Shuja noted to AgCouns that,
although the GOP shares our concerns over the liability rules, it
will not be sending any delegates to the Group of Friends meeting in
Mexico City February 23-27.
