Director General (Disarmament) Irfan Yusuf Shami reftel
demarche encouraging expanded private and public pressure on
Iran to fulfill its international obligations and accept a
diplomatic solution to the nuclear issue. In response, Shami
promised that Pakistan would continue to stress three points
to the Iranians: (1) Iran should honor its international
commitments; (2) Pakistan supports a peaceful resolution of
the nuclear issue and opposes armed confrontation; and (3)
Pakistan supports Iran's right to peaceful use of nuclear
energy.
