(SBU) On May 13, Deputy PolCouns met with MFA International
Organization officials Nguyen Vu Minh and Pham Hai Anh to provide
information on the designation of Abdul Haq to the UNSC 1267
Committee's Consolidated List. Per reftel, he notified Minh and Anh
of U.S. actions to fulfill its obligations under UNSCR 1267 and to
encourage Vietnam to do the same, as well as to share any
information Vietnam might have on the individual. In a separate
meeting on May 14 with Ha Duy Tung, the Ministry of Finance's Deputy
Director General of International Cooperation, Econoff delivered the
same message. Anh promised to pass along the substance of the
demarche, as well as the identifying information about Abdul Haq to
the relevant authorities.
