1. (SBU) In an October 26 meeting with Leila Villatoro, the MFA's
Deputy Director for Multilateral Policy (United Nations),poloff
delivered reftel demarche, urging the GoG to support U.S. candidate
Lucretia Myers in the November 6 election of the International
Civil Service Commission.
2. (SBU) Villatoro said her office had recommended to Foreign
Minister Haroldo Rodas that he endorse Myers for one of the three
open Western Europe and Other Group seats in the ICSC, but that he
was still considering the matter, and had not yet indicated which
of the four candidates he planned to support.
