At the request of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs' Acting Principal
Secretary, Charg???? re-raised the requested demarche (ref A) with
the
Ministry's U.S. Desk Officer, Claudia Marks Benjamin, on 17 Dec.
When Charg???? expressed U.S. interest in encouraging Grenada to vote
against the resolution, Benjamin interjected "or abstention."
Noting in particular the letter of U.S. Congressional interest, she
said that she would contact the Foreign Minister (now in Denmark)
for explicit instructions. Charg???? added that the demarche (ref B)
was delivered to the Foreign Minister on 3 Dec, who undertook to
consider the demarche but had no immediate response.
