1. Pol/Econ Chief met October 29 with Ms. Punkie Molefe,
Director of the Department of Multilateral Affairs at the
Botswana Ministry of Foreign Affairs, to discuss the
candidacy of Ms. Lucretia Myers for the International Civil
Service Commission. After listening to the points from the
demarche (Ref A),Ms. Molefe was noncommittal about
Botswana's vote. She asked the Embassy to send Ms. Myers
biographical information in a note verbale (post will do so
October 30) and promised to review it. Ms. Molefe also
inquired about Botswana's candidate for the Advisory
Committee on Administrative and Budgetary Questions, Mr.
Collen Kelapile. Pol/Econ Chief explained that information
about Mr. Kelapile had been sent to Washington (Ref B) where
final voting decisions would be made.
