1. Pol/Econ Chief transmitted the information from Ref A to
Mr. Nkoloi Nkoloi, the Director for Europe and the Americas
at the Botswana Ministry of Foreign Affairs on May 4. He
offered no substantive reply to our demarche, which is the
same result as the last time we demarched on this subject
(Ref B). On May 4 Post's Commercial Specialist also
contacted Mr. Motshidisi, the Deputy Governor of the Bank of
Botswana, to urge Botswana to support Kosovo's application
for IMF and World Bank membership. Mr. Motshidisi listened
to our message, but was not willing to share whether Botswana
will vote on the matter and if so, how.
