1. (SBU) Pol/Econ Chief delivered reftel demarche to Mr.
Shimane Kelaotswe, Assistant Director of the Department of
Europe and the Americas at the Botswana Ministry of Foreign
Affairs. Mr. Kelatotswe said that Botswana has still not
recognized Kosovo and was not likely to do so at this time.
He indicated that "Botswana is a small country" and that as
such, it would likely wait until a wider global consensus has
been reached regarding recognition.
